
Zeshawn is a doctoral candidate in the Accounting & Management Department at the Harvard Business School. His research uses archival and field methods and covers managerial accounting topics including employee and organizational incentives, cost management and profitability analysis. He is especially interested in how firms use both formal (i.e. incentive contracts) and informal (i.e. organizational culture) mechanisms to motivate performance and support organizational goals.
Zeshawn graduated with high honors with a B.A. in Accounting from Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business and Honors College. During his undergraduate career he successfully completed two summer internships in public accounting at Plante & Moran, PLLC. Following graduation, he worked for General Electric, Water & Process Technologies, first in their Financial Management Program and then as the lead financial planning analyst in their Ionics Equipment group. In addition to gaining experience in practice, Zeshawn spent four terms as a teaching assistant of introductory managerial accounting at Michigan State University and is currently a teaching fellow for financial reporting and control and an executive education tutor at Harvard Business School.
